Ted, This isn't my strong subject so I have a question: Did the Bush threat 4 or 5 years ago — to start drilling in ANWR … didn't that mere threat contribute largely to the oil price drop? When it got to around $150/ bbl. Bush pushed for drilling and the price fell to ? $80?

As a Nebraskan (Ph.D. UNL) teaching at McGill University in Canada, I am horrified by the dirty tar sands crude oil flowing through the unstable Sand Hills aquifer. A rupture would be like what happened in the Gulf of Mexico. Nebraskans should be aware that it does no good for Canada either. Please watch Petropolis on Neflix to see how the AlbertaTar Sands Project will destroy an area the size of ENGLAND. The site is being contaminated with brine! It is analogous to what happened to the mountains and people of West Virginia.

Has anyone looked at the effect that ethanol has on MPG. The more ethanol, the Lower the MPG. And no one talks about the huge size of the subsidies that the ethanol companies receive. Anyone want to guess how much effect the use of corn for ethanol has had on the price of food?
